Steps to become a California Notary Public  

1. Complete approved education, Six Hour Class .(renewing Notaries Three Hour Class)

2. Register for the State of California approved Notary Exam

3. Take and pass the Exam, apply for a Notary Public commission

4. Submit Fingerprints via Live Scan for required background check

5. Receive Commission packet from the Secretary of State

6. Purchase Notary Public materials

7. File Notary Public Oath & Notary Surety Bond with the County
